Privacy Policy

Pockets Vault is designed around a simple principle: your financial information belongs to you and stays under your control.

Last updated: August 8, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Pockets Vault handles information. The current version does not require an account and does not use developer-operated servers, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs or cross-app tracking. The developer does not collect your financial records, receipt images or biometric data.

2. Information stored locally

Information you enter—including transactions, categories, budgets, recurring transactions, savings goals, currency preferences and descriptions—is stored in the app's private container on your device. Receipt images are also stored locally when you choose to attach them. This information is not transmitted to the developer.

3. Camera, photos and biometrics

  • Camera and photo library: used only when you choose to capture or select a receipt.
  • Receipt recognition: text recognition and categorisation are performed on the device. You can review and edit the result before saving.
  • Face ID or device biometrics: used only to unlock the app. Authentication is handled by the operating system; Pockets Vault does not receive or store biometric templates.

You can change these permissions at any time in the device settings.

4. Currency exchange rates

If currency conversion is enabled, Pockets Vault requests public reference rates from the European Central Bank (ECB) and caches them locally. The request does not include your transactions or receipt data. Like any internet request, the ECB may receive technical network information such as an IP address under its own privacy practices.

5. Backup, import and export

Backup and export are initiated by you. You choose where the resulting file is saved or shared. Optional password protection encrypts supported backup files. Files stored in iCloud Drive, another cloud provider, email or a third-party app are governed by that service's privacy policy. Pockets Vault and its developer do not receive a copy.

6. Security

Pockets Vault uses the private app container provided by the operating system. Optional PIN, Face ID or device biometrics help prevent unauthorised access through the app. No method is infallible, so keep your device, backup files and passwords secure.

7. Retention and deletion

Local information remains on your device until you delete individual records or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the app's local data according to the operating system's behaviour. Exported backup or CSV files remain wherever you saved them and must be deleted separately.

8. Children and policy changes

Pockets Vault is a general personal finance tool and is not directed to children. We may update this policy when the app's features or legal requirements change. The revision date at the top identifies the latest version.

9. Contact
